Future Father's Day Recap

Well, for Future Father's Day we celebrated by eating puffy apple pancakes in the morning.   That was a delicious start to the day, but after that there were some ups and downs for my husband.  At church he was told Happy Father's Day, and by one gentleman he was asked how many children he had.  Brownies were passed out to all of the fathers, and he felt a bit awkward taking one.  He tried to avoid it, but then graciously accepted it.  I felt bad for him.  I knew how he felt.  I had been there just a month previously.

I was planning on barbecuing filet mignon and having a nice dinner, but our air conditioner broke.  We tried to trouble shoot it, but we didn't have any luck fixing it.  So we were sweating it out in our hot house until some friends offered to let us stay with them.

So that was the end of our future father's day.  My hubby handled it well, but I could tell it was difficult for him.  I hope that was our last future father's day we have to celebrate, but you never know around here.

  1. That must have been difficult for him but I am sure he handled it with grace. My DH was wished a HFD also, he didn't say anything...

We actually avoided the whole day...we BBQ Filet Mignon & drank too much wine !

  2. Ouch. I am very happy that we avoided any public awkwardness. It's great that your DH handled it with such grace.

  3. Bummer about your air conditioner. Don't know where you're at- but here in AZ I would die without ours. So hopefully you're in a less dreadful place.

Father's Day was actually a bit dreadful for me as well! My DH was home sick with the flu. We're nursery leaders so towards the end of the 3rd block the primary president came in and brought in the treat for my hubby. He wasn't there so I accepted it for him. and then came on all the baby questions. Goo. When I got home I kicked my hubbs for putting me through that. ;-)

  4. Wow, that must have been hard... but what a good positive spin to put on the day -- I like the "future" you put in front of the reference in your post...

Sorry 'bout the A/C breaking down -- that's the worst! Happened to us 3 different summers in a row, in two different houses, no less! (finally sucked it up and put down the moola for a new unit)

I hope it was nice to end the day spending time with some friends, in their lovely air-conditioned home...
